Your page, your promise

Your link, sendscripts.to/your-name, opens on your own page: logo, cover, reel and bio. A needed-by date is worked out from your cut-off and working days, and an In the booth status tells clients when you are recording.

Dave Diamond

Radio imaging with nerve since 1991. Rock, alt and AC, dry or produced, back to you fast.

In 1991 I walked into KKSS 97.3 Kiss FM in Albuquerque unannounced and told the receptionist I’d wait for the program director. “He’s got to eat at some point.” The late Roy “Cadillac Jack” Jaynes came out and asked if I wanted to be on the radio. I told him to fire his overnight guy, because I was better. The overnight guy was sitting right behind me. Roy laughed: “Come in Sunday at 6 a.m. I’ll train you myself.” That nerve is in every read. Rock, alt and AC imaging, dry or produced, from my own studio and back to you fast.

Scripts fit the spot, before they reach your booth

Every script is timed as your client types, against a window you set for each length: the range of spoken characters that fills it. Over, short or in the window, they fix it before they hit send.

You see what’s waiting

Scripts arrive on your board and by email. Drag a session from New to Recording to Delivered, see every due date on a calendar, and keep questions on the order in a thread. Every step is timestamped.

You read it full screen

Perform mode opens any script full screen: 24 pt double spaced, big enough to read from the mic, or as big as fills the screen. A timer, a 3-2-1 count-in, Rec and Stop.

(Warm, unhurried) Some mornings deserve more than coffee from a can. At Harbor Street Bakery the ovens fire up at four, so by six the sourdough is cooling, the cinnamon knots are glazed and the window seats are waiting. Stop in on your way to work, or pull up a chair and stay a while. (beat) Harbor Street Bakery, on the corner of Fifth and Harbor. Fresh from the oven, every single day, with loaves from five dollars and free coffee refills all morning long. Grab a table by the window and bring a friend.

Record it, check it, send it

Press Record here in Perform and your microphone is checked for you: a live meter, a room test and four badges that go green, yellow or red for peak, average level, loudness and room noise. Trim a breath, fade an end, then one click files the take on the right script.

Take 2 · 0:31 · Script 1

All checks pass

  • Peak −9.8 dBFS Limit −3.0 dBFS or lower Pass
  • Average level −18.2 dBFS Aim for −24.0 to −14.0 dBFS Pass
  • Loudness −20.1 LUFS For reference only Not checked
  • Room noise −68.0 dBFS Limit −60.0 dBFS or lower Pass

Hover, focus or click a badge to see all four level checks. Green passes, yellow is close to a limit, red misses it, grey is for reference.

Clients approve, or ask again

Your client plays and downloads the reads from a private link, then approves them for air or selects the exact words they want redone. Those words come back highlighted in your inbox and in Perform.

To pick words to re-read, select them with the mouse, or use the arrow keys to move between sentences and press Enter to pick one. Then press Ask for a re-read.
